Lunar Electric Rover
When we first arrived at Building 9, the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, the generation 2 LER was just a gold painted frame. Our job was to skin the interior with PVC sheeting. Since this is one of the major projects currently underway in the Constellation program, and therefore a major publicity item, it was important that we do a professional job. Of the two dozen panels, each one had to be custom fitted to it’s surrounding panels and drilled to match the frame. After skinning was completed, foam insulation panels were cut and attached to fit in-between the interior and exterior skins.
